Van daily check sheet.
A daily check sheet for vans and light commercial vehicles, for fleets that want the same evidence trail below the operator licensing threshold as above it.
This is the paper version. FleetOptix does the same job on a phone, with the record filed against the vehicle or the driver automatically.

What is on the sheet
- A short daily round for a light vehicle, sized to be done properly rather than skipped
- Tyres, lights, fluids, glass and load security
- A nil-defect line and a driver signature
- Space for the defect to be carried straight onto a report form
Why this record matters
Van fleets often sit outside operator licensing, which removes the licence undertaking but not the duty to keep vehicles in a roadworthy condition, nor the interest an insurer or an investigator takes after a collision. The check is worth doing on its own terms, and the record is what makes it defensible later.
Because there is no licence to lose, the practical risk is drift: a check that starts daily becomes weekly, then becomes a form signed in a batch on a Friday. Keeping the round short is what keeps it real.
Use it with
- HGV walkaround check sheetA printable daily walkaround check sheet for HGVs, covering the items a driver is expected to inspect before the vehicle is used and the record that proves they did.
- Vehicle defect report formA defect report form that records what was found, who was told, what was done about it and when the vehicle was fit to use again.
- New driver induction checklistAn induction checklist for new drivers, covering the documents to see, the briefings to give and the records that prove both happened.
